How to convert images to a PDF
Add images
Drop or choose JPEG, PNG or WebP images. You can add more at any time.
Arrange the order
Drag a card, or use Move up and Move down. The numbers on the cards show the page order.
Choose page settings
Pick a page size, orientation, margins and background colour.
Create and download
Press Create PDF, rename the file if you like, then download it.
How the pages are made
Each image goes on its own page, in the order shown. A single image is fine. On A4 and US Letter, each image is scaled to fit inside the margins with its aspect ratio kept, and centred. It is never cropped or stretched. Small images are scaled up to fit, which can look soft.
| Setting | Options | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| A4, US Letter, or Fit to image. Default: A4. | Fit to image makes each page the size of its image, at 96 pixels per inch, with no margins. Pages can differ in size. | |
| Auto, Portrait or Landscape. Default: Auto. | A4 and US Letter only. Auto picks portrait or landscape separately for each image, whichever lets that image appear larger. Portrait and Landscape use one orientation for all pages. | |
| None, Small (0.25 in, about 6 mm) or Standard (0.5 in, about 13 mm). Default: Small. | A4 and US Letter only. | |
| A colour. Default: white. | Fills the page around the image and shows through any transparent areas of the image. |
- JPEG photos. A JPEG that does not need rotating is placed in the PDF as it is, without being compressed again.
- PNG images. PNG images are kept lossless.
- WebP and rotated JPEGs. WebP images, and JPEGs whose camera orientation needs applying, are converted once: to PNG if they may contain transparency, otherwise to a high-quality JPEG (92%).
- Photo orientation. Photos are shown the right way up using their camera orientation tag. Camera metadata such as EXIF and GPS location is not included in the PDF.
- Size is not guaranteed. The PDF is roughly the size of the images. Converted images and PNG images can make it larger.
- Not included. Text recognition (OCR), so text in images is not searchable, passwords, signatures, several images per page, and editing existing PDFs are not part of this tool.
If you change the images, their order or the page settings after creating a PDF, the result is marked “Out of date” and you need to create it again. Renaming the file does not.
Limits
- 50
- 50 MB
- 200 MB
- 40 MP
These are application limits. Devices with little memory, especially phones, may fail sooner. If that happens, try fewer or smaller images.
What happens to your files
Images are converted by code running in your browser tab, in a background Web Worker where supported, and are not uploaded. Your original files are never changed. Results stay in memory until you clear them or close the page. See Privacy.
What is rejected
- Animated images.
- Other formats, such as HEIC or GIF.
- Damaged files, and images over the limits.
- Files are checked by reading their contents, not their extension.
- A file that can’t be used stays in the list marked with an error. Remove it before creating the PDF. Nothing is skipped silently.
Troubleshooting
An image was rejected
Check the message on its card. Animated images, formats other than JPEG, PNG and WebP, damaged files and images over the limits are rejected. Convert or re-save the image as a still JPEG, PNG or WebP and add it again, or remove it from the list.
The PDF is very large
The PDF is roughly the size of the images. Make them smaller first with the Image Compressor or Compress to Size, then add them here.
The image looks blurry
On A4 and US Letter, small images are enlarged to fit the page, which can look soft. Choose Fit to image to give each page the size of its image.
A photo is sideways
The tool applies the camera orientation tag. If a photo is still sideways, the tag is missing. Rotate the photo in another app first, then add it again.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. They are converted in your browser. The site only delivers the page and its code.
Can I put several images on one page?
Not in this tool. Each image gets its own page.
Can I combine the result with other PDFs?
Yes. Use Merge PDF.
Do I need an account?
No. The tool is free and needs no sign-in.
