Merge PDF

Combine PDF files into one, in the order you choose. Your files stay on your device.

PDF files. Up to 50 files, 100 MB each and 200 MB in total.

Files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

How to merge PDF files

  1. Choose PDFs

Drop or choose PDF files. You can add more at any time.

  2. Arrange the order

Drag a card, or use Move up and Move down. The numbers on the cards show the order.

  3. Merge

Press Merge PDF. It needs at least two valid PDFs.

  4. Download

Download the merged file. You can rename it first.

What is kept and what may be lost

The merged file contains every page of each PDF, in the order the files are shown. The result is a newly generated PDF, so some features of the originals may not carry over.

What the merged file keeps
ItemIn the merged fileNotes
PagesYes: Every page is includedEach document’s pages stay together, in their own order, in the file order shown.
Page layoutYes: KeptPage sizes, portrait and landscape pages, and page rotation stay as they are.
Form fieldsNo: May not be preservedInteractive fields may stop working.
BookmarksNo: May not be preservedThe outline of a source file may be missing.
AttachmentsNo: May not be preservedFiles embedded in a PDF may be missing.
MetadataNo: May not be preservedDocument-level details such as title and author may not carry over.
SignaturesNo: Not validMerging changes the document, so a digital signature in a source file will not be valid in the merged file.
  • Size is not guaranteed. The merged file may be about the size of the inputs combined, or larger or smaller. Merging is not compression.
  • Signed PDFs. If a source PDF is digitally signed, its signature will not be valid in the merged file. Keep the original if you need the signature.
  • Whole documents only. Page-level selection, splitting, compression, editing and password removal are not part of this tool.
  • Files are checked by reading them. A file is accepted based on its contents, not its extension. Damaged or unsupported files are marked with an error and must be removed before merging. Nothing is skipped silently.

These are application limits. Devices with little memory, especially phones, may fail on large merges. If that happens, try fewer or smaller files.

What happens to your files

PDFs are merged by code running in your browser tab, in a background Web Worker, and are not uploaded. Your original files are never changed. Results stay in memory until you clear them or close the page. See Privacy.

Protected PDFs

  • Password-protected and encrypted PDFs are rejected.
  • This includes PDFs that open without a password but have restrictions or encryption.
  • The tool does not remove or bypass passwords.
  • Valid files stay in the list when another file is rejected.

Troubleshooting

A file was rejected as password-protected

Remove the protection in an app you trust that has the password, save the PDF, then add it again. This tool does not remove passwords.

A file is damaged or can't be read

Re-save or export it as a PDF from the app that created it, then add it again. Or remove it from the list. Files with an error must be removed before you can merge.

Merging failed or the tab ran out of memory

Try fewer or smaller files. Large merges can need more memory than a device has, particularly on phones.

Form fields or bookmarks are missing

Interactive form fields and bookmarks may not be preserved when PDFs are merged. The pages themselves are included; the fields may no longer work and the outline may be missing.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. They are merged in your browser. The site only delivers the page and its code.

Will the merged file be smaller?

Not necessarily. It may be about the size of the files combined, or larger or smaller. There is no guarantee.

Can I choose individual pages?

Not in this tool. Every page of each file is included.

Do I need an account?

No. The tool is free and needs no sign-in.
